Celebration of Craftsmanship & Design: UK designer-makers on show

Michele White will be exhibiting at this year’s Celebration of Craftsmanship & Design in Cheltenham. This year’s show runs from 18 – 27 August, and is the largest UK exhibition of contemporary, bespoke, designer-maker furniture and jewellery…

The ethos is simple – to feature the finest makers of furniture, jewellery, sculpture, and art in a fabulous setting.
Now in its 24th year, it has become the biggest-sellng show of its kind, and draws visitors from around the world. The event is the perfect opportunity to view the best craftsmanship in the UK today, and also pick up a piece with a value far beyond its price.

Michele says:

‘We are thrilled, as always, to be exhibiting at this world-class event, alongside 70 other renowned designer-makers. The quality on show makes this an unmissable exhibition if you are a lover of fine furniture, bespoke jewellery, sculpture or art.’

Championing British craftsmanship

Established in 1994 by Betty Norbury the show has evolved and grown significantly, and now displays the work of around 70 designer-makers. Show curator Jason Heap has introduced several awards to generate awareness and also to reward those who continue to push the boundaries of innovation, skill and perfection.

These include:

  • The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers Design Prize
  • Best Use of British Timber Award
  • Alan Peters Award for Excellence
  • craft&design Award

Jason says:

‘The emphasis has always been on the quality of the work displayed. The low cost of exhibiting means the show can include the very best makers and up-and-coming talent, regardless of the size of the establishment.’

Designers on show

The Celebration of Craftsmanship & Design show does not take any commission on any sales made at the show. This means that the designer-maker receives 100% of their asking price. This makes the show an excellent proposition for both designer-makers and visitors. Everyone can be assured that the exhibition truly has the best interests of the designer-makers at heart.
